Mechagodzilla (メカゴジラ Mekagojira) is a mechanical Titan that appears as the main and final antagonist of the 2021 Legendary Pictures film Godzilla vs. Kong. It is the second incarnation of Mechagodzilla to appear in an American-made film, after the incarnation featured in the 2018 film Ready Player One.

Overview

In-game Description

"Mechagodzilla 2021 (メカゴジラ Mekagojira) is a robotic doppelganger built by Apex Cybernetics. The project was led by Walter Simmons, who wanted to use the robot to exterminate the titans. Kevin, one of the 3 Heads of Monster Zero, his skull was linked to Mechagodzilla's supercomputer for its telepathic communicative properties, allowing control from afar; however, the Hollow Earth energy used as fuel reawakened what remained of Ghidorah's consciousness within the skull. Parched for revenge, it went rogue..."

Main Overview

Mechagodzilla 2021, (Commonly abbreviated to MG21) is an incredibly powerful kaiju when used correctly, requiring the two late game kaijus Godzilla 2021 and Titanus Kong, with attacks that do high damage. He also has high mobility compared to other kaiju with the same speed, as this mobility is enhanced with his Dash utility. These factors allow Mechagodzilla to hold his own against the best of the best, like Monster Zero or Destoroyah.

Mechagodzilla has 5 attacks and the dash utility and as previously mentioned, propels him forward with rocket boosters on his back, activated through the V key on PCs, which can be useful for covering more ground in short durations or to evade attacks, as well as for hit and run confrontations. It also augments the damage of Turbo Strike.

Mechagodzilla's most preferable form of offense is hit-and-run, but can also switch into a brute-force kaiju when needed to, due to having powerful attacks and good mobility, and decent health compared to other top-tier kaiju (5000 base). Creeping Salvo and Proton Scream can be used to hit enemy kaiju from a distance away, and the Dash can be used to escape enemy kaiju firing beams or coming too close for comfort. By continuously using those two attacks, using the Dash utility and staying out of range, Mechagodzilla is sure to shred almost any target in the way bit by bit with his ranged capabilities.

Combat Tips

  • Turbo Strike gets a damage buff of 30% when used in conjunction with Dash, though it has a cooldown of 10 seconds. A side note is that Turbo Strike's damage buff with dash applies for the entire Dash duration, meaning beforehand you can combine Invigorated Kick with Dash to make a quick moving AOE attack before finishing the combo with Turbo Strike.
  • Another trick with Dash is combining it with Surgical Stab, as once the attack is used with Dash, the animation becomes bugged and stiff, allowing users to quickly twist around 180 degrees to increase the attack's range.

Builds

  • 4 regeneration, 8 speed, 8 damage.
  • 4 health, 3 regeneration, 6 speed, 7 damage
  • 5 health, 4 regeneration, 4 speed, 7 damage

Abilities

Ability Name Cooldown Damage Drain Type Description Image
Turbo Strike 1.7 415/695 | 618/904 (With dash) 12.5 Melee Attack A high-powered punch with blue energy particles. it has low charge consumption and a small cooldown, making it ideal for combat. Can be used in conjunction with Dash to raise the damage by 30% (Has a cooldown of 10 seconds). Slower than most melee attacks despite all of the benefits, with a speed comparable to that of either Intimidation Rumble or Cauda Percute. Commonly you can not only use the attack, hit the opponent, and run backward, but you can also swing your camera 90 degrees to speed up the attack's speed while dodging some blows by moving your hurtbox away.

Invigorated Kick 5 520/740 20 AOE/Melee Attack A heavy stomp that has good AOE damage with the range that is more than regular stomps and destroys anything around it, but doesn't give any G-cells from buildings, as is normal with all other AOE attacks. Great for hitting multiple targets at once from different ranges. Much faster than Turbo Strike (By roughly 4 times), but the cooldown is almost 3 times as long. This attack has less range in front and back of Mechagodzilla but more on the sides and diagonally, so keep that in mind. You can use Dash after the attack.

Surgical Stab 3.6 585/815.4 (292.5 x 2/407.2 x 2) 15 Melee Attack An attack using its sharp tail drill does higher damage than Invigorated Kick but at the cost of a slower duration but can be used alternatively with it. It can be used for grinding by spinning in the middle of a cluster of buildings to destroy them, or by using shift-lock and spinning. Similar to Turbo Strike, this move can be used while using its Dash Utility. Commonly used for ranging when the tail comes back from the second stab. The cooldown and duration are in between Turbo Strike and Invigorated Kick. This attack has more range leaning to the left of Mechagodzilla (since the tail is stabbing left and not right). Another strategy for using this is first to use the attack and stab forward arch your camera back 45 degrees and return backward for the second stab to prevent trading blows while using this.

The attack's hitbox is active for the ENTIRE animation until the tail comes back and becomes completely straight. Other than that it will hit enemies even from a quarter of a distance.

Proton Scream 30 1550/2550 (86.11 x 18/142 x 18) 60 Beam After a mildly long wind-up, shoot forward a pink-red A-74 pure proton beam that does immense amounts of damage, capable of melting away the health of even the bulkiest of foes. As said, its wind-up time is on the longer side and as such, should be used from a very far distance, this beam is hard to out-match in a beam clash due to its high tick damage and long beam duration. After firing the beam Mechagodzilla will be extremely vulnerable to attack (assuming they have no Dash) because of the attack's end lag, so mind which opponents you're facing.

Creeping Salvo 14 60/95 (Per missile)

460/760(total)

30 Projectile Attack Fire forward a salvo of 8 missiles that are guided by your mouse/finger movement on the screen. Upon firing the missiles will last for 5 seconds (Even less if you hit terrain or buildings, as they explode on impact) before exploding midair. It also creates explosion particles wherever it hits. Due to the fact that it tracks mouse/finger movements, it is possible to time your missiles to curve at the rig time around a buildings,i aking use of t's tracking nature. However, if you do not fully lock on a target and immediately change to a target, the missiles will most likely circle due to it having 2 targets, hence why you should always predict your opponent's movement to prevent circling.

The missiles have a bit of a tracking problem as they circle targets quite often.

Dash 5 None 15 Utility Propels the player forward with jet boosters mounted on the back. Can be combined with Turbo Strike or Creeping Salvo to create different attack strategies. Also great for travelling long distances in short periods, or escaping attacks from other Kaiju. A common combo is Dash + Invigorated Kick and finishes it with Turbo Strike, as the buff applies so long as the dash is active and it's not on cooldown.

Trivia:

  • This is the first kaiju to have a V utility button, being it's Dash Ability.

  • Mechagodzilla 2021's T roar's name was changed from "Resound Revenge" to "Maniacal Cackle" for an unknown reason, possibly to throw a similarity between Godzilla 2021.

  • This is the first Mechagodzilla to utilize a hit-and-run tactic. The second being Ready Player One Mechagodzilla.
